Sleepless Night Wins Japan Gr1 Sprinters Stakes

In Japan, 4YO mare Sleepless Night (Kurofune-What Katy Did, by Nureyev) notched her 5th successive win with a 1.25-lengths victory in the Gr1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m on turf) at Nakayama. (The race was also the 6th-leg of the 8-race 2008 Global Sprint Challenge.) Sleepless Night (ridden by Hiroyuki Uemura for trainer Kojiro Hashiguchi) defeated fast-finishing Australian-bred 5YO entire Kinshasa No Kiseki (Fuji Kiseki-Keltshaan, by Pleasant Colony) & 4YO entire BB Guldan (Chief Bearhart-All The Chat, by Westminster). Overall Sleepless Night now has 9 wins (also including May's Listed Ritto Stakes over 1200m at Kyoto, June's Gr3 CBC Sho over 1200m at Chukyo & August's Listed Sho Kitakyushu Kinen over 1200m at Kokura) from 16 starts.
