Sousa Wins Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes

Tuesday, 7th October 2008

Former Coolmore shuttler Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Gr1 winner when 3YO colt Sousa (Galileo-Liberty Song, by Last Tycoon) booted clear after assuming the lead a long way from home in the $400,000 Gr1 Thrifty Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Randwick. Ridden by Corey Brown for trainer Peter Snowden, Sousa won by a street from favoured fellow colts Predatory Pricer (Street Cry-Shady Stream, by Archregent) & Excelltastic (Exceed And Excel-Fantail, by Lear Fan). A $420,000 yearling consigned by Telawney Stud at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney, Sousa has 3 wins from 6 starts for $402,400 in earnings.
