Tale Of The Cat Adds US Gr2

Coolmore shuttler Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat-Yarn, by Mr Prospector) added a US group success when Charles Fipke's home-bred colt Tale Of Ekati (Tale Of The Cat-Silence Beauty, by Sunday Silence) scored a 1-length victory in the US$160,000 Gr2 Jerome Handicap (8 furlongs) for 3YOs at Belmont Park. Tale Of Ekati (ridden by Cornelio Velasquez for trainer Barclay Tagg) defeated fellow colts You And I Forever (A.P.Indy-You, by You And I) & Canadian-bred Harlem Rocker (Macho Uno-Freedom Come, by Lit De Justice). Previously this season Kentucky-bred Tale Of Ekati won April's Gr1 Wood Memorial Stakes (9 furlongs) at Aqueduct & finished 3rd in March's Gr2 Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds, before running 4th in May's Gr1 Kentucky Derby. And during 2007 he won the Gr2 Futurity Stakes (7 furlongs) at Belmont Park & finished 2nd in the Gr2 Sanford Stakes (6 furlongs) at Saratoga. Overall Tale Of Ekati now has 4 wins from 11 starts for US$992,758 earnings.
