Chapel Royal To Stand At Signature Stallions
US 7YO multiple graded stakes-winner Chapel Royal (Montbrook-Cut Class Leanne, by Cutlass) will stand the 2009 breeding season for US$10,000 at William Schettine's Signature Stallions in Florida, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Chapel Royal (who previously stood at Ashford Stud in Kentucky) has sired 17 winners from 174 2YOs in his 1st-crop. Chapel Royal was the sale topper at the 2003 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co Calder selected 2YOs-in-training sale when Coolmore bloodstock agent Demi O'Byrne purchased the colt for US$1.2 million. After winning on debut by 9.25-lengths at Belmont Park in May 2003, Chapel Royal went on to win the Gr3 Flash Stakes & Gr2 Sanford Stakes in his next 2 starts; he subsequently finished runner-up in both the Gr1 Hopeful Stakes & Gr1 Champagne Stakes (G1) before closing his juvenile campaign with a 3rd-placing in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Overall he recorded 3 wins from 8 starts for US$495,571 earnings.
