US Stakes-Winner & Producer Borodislew Dead

US multiple stakes-winning & multiple stakes-producing mare Borodislew (Seattle Slew-Breath Taking, by Nureyev) was euthanased "because of complications from colic" at Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Stud in Florida aged 18, reported bloodhorse.com. Kentucky-bred Borodislew (who produced a Smarty Jones colt in February) retired with 10 wins (including a French group success, followed by the US 1995 Gr2 Chula Vista Handicap & Gr3 Lady's Secret Handicap, plus 1996 Gr2 Hawthorne Handicap) from 28 starts & US$679,781 earnings. Live Oak bought Borodislew for US$750,000 at the 2000 Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Her 8 named foals (6 winners) included stakes-winners Canadian Frontier, Seeking Slew & Slewfoundmoney.
