Thursday, 9th October 2008

Also in France, former Widden Stud shuttler Barathea (Sadler's Wells-Brocade, by Habitat) added a black-type success when Irish-bred 4YO entire Friston Forest (Barathea-Talented, by Bustino) gained the judge's decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the €52,000 (A$88,000) Listed Prix Scaramouche (3000m) at Chantilly. Friston Forest (ridden by Maxime Guyon for trainer Andre Fabre) scored by a short-neck from fellow Irish-bred 4YO gelding Quartz Jem (Sakhee-Erinys, by Kendor) with a further short-head to US-bred 3YO colt Fully Funded (Aptitude-Fully Invested, by Irish River). Previously this season, Friston Forest finished 3rd in France's Listed Prix Du Carrousel (3100m) at Maisons-Laffitte; & last year he won both France's Listed Derby Du Languedoc (2400m) at Toulouse & Listed Derby Du Midi (2400m) at Bordeaux, as well placing in both the Gr3 Prix La Force (2000m) at Longchamp & Listed Prix Inter-Regional Des 3 Ans (2200m) at Bordeaux. Overall Friston Forest now has 6 wins & 4 placings from 13 starts for £125,347 (A$263,000) earnings.
