UK Tatts Yearlings Day-2: $1.43m Montjeu Colt
Coolmore principal John Magnier out-bid Blandford Bloodstock's Tom Goff & trainers Terry Mills & Tom Tate to pay the Day-2 top price of 650,000 guineas (A$1.43m) for a colt by dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (out of Alysheba mare Vanishing Prairie) during last night's middle session at Europe's premier yearling auction, the 3-day Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 at Park Paddocks in Newmarket in England. The colt (consigned from Caroline Green's Templeton Stud on behalf of Marcel & Sibylle Egloff's Gestut Sohrenhof in Switzerland) is a half-brother to both dual Gr1-winner Vespone & last year's Gr1 Melbourne Cup runner-up Purple Moon; in addition the colt's dam Vanishing Prairie is a half-sister to the dams of Gr1-winners Vallee Enchantee & Maids Causeway.
