Leading NZ Rider Cropp Denies Drug Use

Friday, 10th October 2008

Also in NZ, the Judicial Control Authority is finally inquiring into leading jockey Lisa Cropp's 2005 positive drug test for methamphetamine. Cropp (who won the NZ jockey premiership in both 2005-06 & 2006-07 & finished 2nd last season) unsuccessfully challenged the legality of the test via a series of court proceedings over the last 3 years. Cropp's lawyer Antony Shaw told the JCA his client "refutes absolutely" that she ever took any amphetamines or took steps to avoid being tested or tampered with her sample, reported nzherald.co.nz.
