UK Tatts Yearlings Day-3: $1.43m Montjeu Colt
Former Abba frontman Benny Anderson (buying via Peter Doyle Bloodstock) out-bid Kuwait-based businessman Saleh Al Homaizi & paid top price of 650,000 guineas (A$1.43m) for a colt by dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (out of Danehill mare Danaskaya) during last night's closing session at Europe's premier yearling auction, the 3-day Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 at Park Paddocks in Newmarket in England. The colt was consigned from Ireland's Ballylinch Stud & his dam Danaskaya was champion 2YO filly in Ireland in 2002 & subsequently ran 3rd in the UK Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Anderson indicated that the colt will go into training with John Dunlop at Castle Stables in Arundel.
