Alwajeeha Wins US Gr1 QEII Cup

In the US, Shadwell Stable's home-bred Alwajeeha (Dixieland Band-Ridaa, by Seattle Slew) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the US$500,000 Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (9 furlongs on turf) for 3YO fillies at Keeneland in Kentucky. Alwajeeha (ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin) defeated fast-finishing Backseat Rhythm (El Corredor-Kiss A Miss, by Kissin Kris) & My Princess Jess (Stormy Atlantic-Jewell Of Jewels, by Pleasant Colony). Previously this year Alwajeeha also won April's Gr3 Appalachian Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Keeneland, as well as finishing runner-up in both July's Gr2 Lake George Stakes (9.5 furlongs on turf) at Saratoga & January's Listed Tropical Park Oaks (8.5 furlongs on turf) at Calder. Overall Alwajeeha now has 3 wins & 3 runners-up from 9 starts for US$486,927 earnings.
