Viva Pronto Wins Macau Magic Millions Plate

Monday, 13th October 2008

Also in Macau, former Coolmore shuttler Catcher In The Rye (Danehill-Truly A Dream by Darshaan) added a feature success when Australian-bred 3YO colt Viva Pronto (Catcher In The Rye-Steel Shuffle, by Steel Blade) scored an extraordinary 2.75-lengths victory in his 1st start & against older rivals in the Magic Millions Plate (1000m) at Taipa. Viva Pronto (ridden by Manuel Nunes for expatriate Australian trainer Gary Moore) defeated 5YO gelding Homerun (Pupil-Sun Shower, by Centro) & 7YO gelding Cheerful (Tuscany Flyer-Northwood Fair, by Fairy King). Viva Pronto was a $20,000 yearling at the 2007 Magic Millions Summer Sale & subsequently a $140,000 sale-topper (after producing the fastest pre-sale breeze-up) at the 2007 Magic Millions Queensland Horses-In-Training Sale. Following this debut victory, an excited Moore confirmed he is "looking at the quarantine possibilities" for running Viva Pronto (raced by Macau Jockey Club chief & billionaire businessman Stanley Ho) in January's A$1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy on the Queensland Gold Coast.
