Whobegotyou Wins Gr1 Caulfield Guineas

Monday, 13th October 2008

On the Australian track, former Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a Gr1 triumph when boom gelded son Whobegotyou (Street Cry-Temple Of Peace, by Carnegie) scored a decisive 3.25-lengths victory in the $1 million Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs at Caulfield in Melbourne. Favourite Whobegotyou (ridden by Michael Rodd for trainer Mark Kavanagh) defeated the colts Time Thief (Redoute's Choice-Procrastinate, by Jade Hunter) & Von Costa De Hero (Encosta De Lago-Piavonic, by Scenic). Whobegotyou (offered by Widden Stud but passed-in after failing to make his $25,000 reserve at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney & later sold privately from the paddock) now has 4 wins (also including last start's Gr2 Bill Stutt Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley on September 27) & a runner-up (in August's Gr3 McNeil Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) from 6 starts for $783,950 earnings.
