Hughes Declines Racing NSW Appointment

Wednesday, 15th October 2008

The selection of a new streamlined Racing NSW Board has been "thrown into chaos" after businessman & thoroughbred owner-breeder Tim Hughes "withdrew his services" reported The Sydney Morning Herald. Hughes was part of a 5-person panel selected by industry stake-holders. Hughes declared: "The events of the last couple of weeks have shown that there still exists far too much in-fighting & self-interest in the industry. I have been astounded by press reports of the whole process & I do hope once you select the board that everyone gets behind it, as the industry needs to be united. In these times of economic uncertainty, I have decided to concentrate on my commercial interests & opportunities."
