UK Tatts Book 2 Day-2: $374k Marju Colt

Wednesday, 15th October 2008

In the UK overnight, Shadwell Estates buyer Angus Gold out-bid Larry Stratton & Nick Littmoden (acting on behalf of the Hong Kong Jockey Club) to pay top price of 170,000 guineas (A$374,000) for a colt by former Collingrove shuttler Marju (out of Peintre Celebre mare What A Picture) during the middle session at the 3-day Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2 at Park Paddocks in Newmarket. The colt was a pin-hooking bonanza for consignor Willie Browne's Meadowlands Stud in Ireland, having been previously purchased for 85,000 guineas (A$187,000) at the 2007 Tattersalls December Foal Sale. The colt's dam What A Picture is a half-sister to French Gr1 Gran Criterium winner Night Style.
