5 Bidders For Scotland's Ayr Racecourse
In Scotland, 5 "seriously interested" bidders "have come through the 1st stage of the race to buy Ayr racecourse," reported racingpost.co.uk. Ayr is Scotland's premier racetrack & Graeme Smith (director of land agency Christie & Co's Glasgow office, which is handling the sale) added there were "several other tentative expressions of interest". The vendors are racecourse chairman Alan Macdonald & managing director Richard Johnstone: local businessmen "who bought the estate in May 2003 & have spent more than £14 million (A$29m) upgrading the facility as part of a masterplan including retail & housing development".
