Beadman Fit For Flemington Carnival
Former champion Sydney jockey Darren Beadman "will be fit to ride at the 4-day Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington," reported racenet.com.au. Beadman (who cracked a vertebra when a horse reared & unseated him in the pre-race parade ring at Sha Tin last Sunday) was released from hospital in Hong Kong yesterday, after an orthopedic surgeon confirmed he can resume trackwork late next week. He commented: "The soreness is starting to come right out now in the muscle area which is really good. I'm still a bit tender around the tail bone area where it is cracked, but other than that I'm alright. He's said I can ride trackwork in about 10 days & then I'll be back riding on October 26." Beadman said he is keen to return for Australia's biggest racing carnival, but "it will all depend on the rides I get offered. If I can get a good ride, I'll be there. At this stage there is nothing on the table, but I'm hopeful the phone starts ringing."
