Thursday, 16th October 2008

On the Australian track, flagship Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian champion sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a Gr1 triumph (& 14th individual Gr1-winner) when favoured daughter Gallica (Redoute's Choice-Swing Queen, by Kingmambo) notched her 4th successive win with a 1-length victory in yesterday's $500,000 Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) for 3YO fillies at Caulfield in Melbourne. Gallica (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Mick Price) defeated front-running Cats Whisker (Fusaichi Pegasus-Perfect Halo, by Don't Say Halo) & Glowlamp (Encosta De Lago-Push A Venture, by Shirley Heights). Gallica (a $250,000 yearling consigned by Amarina Farm at the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) has 4 wins (also including last start's Gr2 Edward Manifold Stakes over 1610m at Flemington on October 4) & 2 runners-up from 7 starts for $526,530 earnings.
