In Singapore yesterday, Lomar Park Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Arena (Danehill-Lee's Bid, by Tawfiq) added Gr1 triumph when Australian-bred 5YO gelding Top Spin (Arena-Gas, by Strategic) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the S$500,000 (A$400,000) Gr1 Kranji Mile (1600m). Top Spin (ridden by Australian jockey Noel Callow for Kiwi trainer Laurie Laxon) defeated favoured fellow 5YO gelding Chevron (Medicean-Lishaway, by Polish Precedent) & Australian-bred 4YO gelding The Hornet (High Yield-Millennium Miss, by Flying Spur). Overall Top Spin now has 14 wins & 7 placings (including all 3 legs of Singapore's 2007 3YO Challenge, plus November's Gr1 Singapore Gold Cup over 2200m) from 23 starts for over S$2 million (A$1.6m) earnings.
