Aztec Smytzer Wins Seymour Cup

Former Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel (In The Wings-Glorious Song, by Halo) added a black-type success when 6YO entire Aztec Smytzer (Singspiel-Rothville, by Gaius) scored a 1.75-lengths victory in yesterday's $125,000 Listed Darley Seymour Cup (1600m) in Victoria. Aztec Smytzer (ridden by Mark Pegus for trainer Byron Cozamanis) defeated 5YO gelding God's Hand (Galileo-Blessed Be, by Brief Truce) & 5YO mare Dorabella (Postponed-Caserio, by Kaapstad). Aztec Smytzer (a $33,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale) now has 4 wins (also including 2005's Listed Interlink Stakes over 1400m at Flemington) & 6 placings (including September's Listed Balaklava Cup over 1600m, plus 2007's Listed Tokyo City Cup over 1600m at Morphettville, as well as 2005's Gr2 Sandown Guineas over 1600m) from 21 starts for $281,290 earnings.
