Choisir Adds UK Gr2

Monday, 20th October 2008

Coolmore stallion Choisir (Danehill Dancer-Great Selection, by Lunchtime) added a UK group success when Irish-bred 3YO colt Stimulation (Choisir-Damiana, by Thatching) scored a 1.25-lengths victory against older rivals in the £100,000 (A$210,000) Gr2 Challenge Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newmarket. Stimulation (ridden by Darryl Holland for trainer Hugh Morrison) defeated front-running US-bred 3YO colt Cat Junior (Storm Cat-Luna Wells, by Sadler's Wells) & fellow US-bred 4YO gelding Laa Rayb (Storm Cat-Society Lady, by Mr Prospector). Previously this season, Stimulation won April's Listed European Free Handicap (7 furlongs) at Newmarket & subsequently finished runner-up in both May's UK Listed King Charles II Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newmarket & July's UK Gr2 Betfair Cup-Lennox Stakes (7 furlongs) against older rivals at Goodwood, before running 3rd against older rivals in September's Turkish Gr2 Topkapi Trophy (1600m) at Veliefendi. Stimulation was a 92,000 guineas (A$203,000) yearling at the 2006 UK Tattersalls October Sale; as a 2YO last season he also finished runner-up in the UK Gr3 Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury & overall now has 3 wins & 5 placings from 10 starts for £193,705 (A$406,000) earnings.
