Monday, 20th October 2008

In New Zealand, Blue Gum Lodge sire Istidaad (Chief's Crown-Mazzei Mood, by Roberto) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Ginga Dude (Istidaad-Clatitude, by Clay Hero) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the NZ$65,000 Listed Rotorua Plate (1900m) at Gate Pa racecourse in Tauranga. Ginga Dude (ridden by James McDonald for trainer Graeme Boyd) scored by a short-head from fellow 5YO gelding Gallions Reach (Victory Dance-Dorinka, by Straight Strike) with a further half-head to another 5YO gelding Elblitzem (Elnadim-Arduous, by Mohamed Abdu). Ginga Dude took his record to 6 wins (also including March's Gr2 Japan-NZ International Trophy over 1600m at Tauranga) & 3 placings (including September's Listed Jim & John Evans Classic over 1600m at Pukekohe) from 15 starts for $261,125 earnings.
