Megatic Wins Northerly Stakes

Monday, 20th October 2008

Ill-fated former Western Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Danetime (Danehill-Allegheny River, by Lear Fan) added a black-type success when 4YO gelding Megatic (Danetime-Mega Role, by Old Spice) gained the judge's decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed Northerly Stakes (1400m) at Ascot in Perth. Megatic (ridden by Paul Harvey for trainer Albie Beckett) scored by a nose from 6YO gelding Tarzi (Desert Prince-Majestic, by Twig Moss) with further neck to fellow 6YO gelding I Command (Commands-Eyenar, by Jetball). Megatic now has 6 wins (also including 2007's Gr1 Kingston Town Classic over 1800m at Ascot, Gr2 WA Guineas over 1600m at Ascot & Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot) & 2 placings (including 2007's Listed Fairetha Stakes over 1400m at Ascot) from 11 starts for $625,300 earnings.
