Doncaster Yearlings: $53k Kheleyf Colt

Tuesday, 21st October 2008

In the UK auction ring overnight, trainer Karl Burke paid top price of £25,000 (A$53,000) for a colt by this year's boom 1st-crop Darley stallion Kheleyf (out of Komaite mare Komena) during the 1-day Doncaster Yearling Sale (followed by 2-day Horses-In-Training Sale). The colt was consigned for breeder Sean Gollogly from Herringswell Manor Stud & Burke told racingpost.co.uk: "I paid a bit more than I planned to. But he was a lovely athletic horse, who I've bought for an existing owner. Kheleyf has made a great start & this colt is out of a Komaite mare, so should be speedy."
