Doncaster HIT Day-2: $228k Alfie Flits

Meanwhile in the UK auction ring overnight, Staffordshire trainer Jennie Candlish paid top price of £95,000 (A$228,000) for 6-time-winning 6YO gelding Alfie Flits (Machiavellian-Elhilmeya, by Unfuwain) during the closing session of the 2-day Doncaster October Horses-In-Training Sale. This season Alfie Flits (consigned from Thorndale Stables to dissolve a partnership) finished 3rd in both the UK Listed Castle Stakes (12 furlongs) at Pontefract & Irish Listed Vintage Crop Stakes (13 furlongs) at Navan; & during 2007 he finished 3rd in Ireland's Gr3 Curragh Cup (14 furlongs) & runner-up in the UK Listed Grand Cup Stakes (14 furlongs) at Musselburgh. And back in 2006, Alfie Flits won both the UK Listed Serlby Stakes (11.5 furlongs) at Windsor & Listed Castle Stakes (12 furlongs) at Pontefract, as well as running 3rd in the Listed Gala Stakes (10 furlongs) at Sandwon Park.
