Kentucky Yearlings Final Average Down 27.8%

The 3-day Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale "could not buck the downward trend at horse sales this year & concluded with double-digit declines across the board," commented thoroughbredtimes.com. Overall 553 lots sold (from 859 offered) for US$7,471,900 (down 29.5% from last year's 566 sold for US$10,595,700). This year's cumulative average fell 27.8% to US$13,512 (last year US$18,720). And the final median dropped 45% to US$5,500 (last year US$10,000). The buy-back rate rose from 20.3% in 2007 to 35.6% this year.
