Crowded House Wins UK Gr1 Racing Post Trophy

Monday, 27th October 2008

In the UK, juvenile colt Crowded House (Rainbow Quest-Wiener Wald, by Woodman) flashed home from the back of the 15-horse field to score a decisive 3.5-lengths victory in the £200,000 (A$480,000) Gr1 Racing Post Trophy (8 furlongs) for 2YOs at Doncaster. Crowded House (ridden by Jamie Spencer for trainer Brian Meehan) defeated Irish-bred fellow colt & Gr2-winning favourite Jukebox Jury (Montjeu-Mare Aux Fees, by Kenmare) & another colt Skanky Biscuit (Peintre Celebre-Blushing Gleam, by Caerleon). At his previous start 3 weeks ago, Crowded House finished runner-up in Britain's richest juvenile race: the inaugural Tattersalls Timeform Million (7 furlongs) at Newmarket (behind this weekend's subsequent US Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Donativum). Overall Crowded House now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 4 starts for £324,804 (A$779,000) earnings.
