Dark Target Wins Prince Of Wales Stakes

Ill-fated former Western Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Danetime (Danehill-Allegheny River, by Lear Fan) added a group success when favoured 4YO gelding Dark Target (Danetime-Accuracy, by Protos) scored a 4.5-lengths victory in the $125,000 weight-for-age Gr3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in Perth. Dark Target (ridden by William Pike for trainer Chris Stelmach) defeated 8YO gelding Royal Lott (Royal Abjar-Hello Lottie, by Beau Sovereign) & 6YO gelding Idyllic Prince (Scenic-Uma Princess, by Umatilla). Dark Target took his record to 8 wins (including 2007's Listed Rosemount-Fairetha Stakes over 1400m at Ascot) & 5 placings (including August's Listed Belmont Newmarket over 1200m at Belmont Park, plus last season's Gr2 Winterbottom Stakes over 1200m at Ascot & Listed Summer Scorcher Handicap over 1000m at Ascot) from 16 starts for $366,950 earnings.
