Donativum Wins US Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf

Princess Haya of Jordan's UK-bred juvenile gelding Donativum (Cadeaux Genereux-Miss Universe, by Warning) scored a half-length victory in the US$1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (8 furlongs on turf) for 2YOs at Santa Anita. Donativum (ridden by Frankie Dettori for trainer John Gosden) defeated Ballydoyle's Gr2-winning Irish-bred colt Westphalia (Danehill Dancer-Pharapache, by Lyphard) & fellow colt Coronet Of A Baron (Pure Prize-Time For A Crown, by Time For A Change). Donativum was a 120,000 guineas (A$300,000) yearling at 2007 UK Tattersalls Book 1 October Sale & at his previous start 3 weeks earlier, Donativum also won the inaugural UK Tattersalls Timeform Million (7 furlongs at Newmarket (& the richest juvenile race in Britain). Overall now has 3 wins & a runner-up from 6 starts for US$1,581,895 earnings. Princess Haya leases Donativum from Darley (which also owns 3rd-placed Coronet Of A Baron & 4th-placed City Style); Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum owns Darley & is married to Princess Haya.
