Ventura Wins US Breeders' Cup F&M Sprint

Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms home-bred 4YO mare Ventura (Chester House-Estala, by Be My Guest) circled the field & then raced away for a 4-lengths victory in the US$1 million Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (7 furlongs on all-weather) for fillies & mares at Santa Anita. Ventura (ridden by Garrett Gomez for trainer Bobby Frankel) defeated multiple Gr1-winning favoured 3YO filly Indian Blessing (Indian Charlie-Shameful, by Flying Chevron) & fellow Gr1-winning 3YO filly Zaftig (Gone West-Zoftig, by Cozzene). Previously this season Ventura won April's Gr2 Madison Stakes (7 furlongs on all-weather) at Keeneland, finished 3rd in May's Gr3 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile (8 furlongs on turf) at Churchill Downs, won June's Gr1 Just A Game Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Belmont Park, finished 2nd in July's Gr2 Cashcall Invitational Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) ay Hollywood Park & also finished runner-up in last month's Canadian Gr1 Woodbine Mile Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Woodbine. And last year Ventura also won the UK Listed Hyde Stakes (8 furlongs on all-weather) at Kempton. Overall she now has 7 wins & 6 placings from 15 starts for $1,359,315 earnings.
