Whobegotyou Wins AAMI Vase

Monday, 27th October 2008

Former Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a group success when boom 3YO gelding Whobegotyou (Street Cry-Temple Of Peace, by Carnegie) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the $200,000 Gr2 AAMI Vase (2040m) for 3YOs at Moonee Valley. Favourite Whobegotyou (ridden by Michael Rodd for trainer Mark Kavanagh) defeated fellow gelding Buffett (Danasinga-Flowers, by College Chapel) & the colt Orca (Carnegie-Slightly Conceited, by Centaine). Whobegotyou (offered by Widden Stud but passed-in after failing to make his $25,000 reserve at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney & later sold privately from the paddock) now has 5 wins (also including last start's Gr1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m on October 11, plus Seprtember's Gr2 Bill Stutt Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley) & a runner-up (in August's Gr3 McNeil Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) from 7 starts for $908,950 earnings.
