King's Best Adds France Black-Type

Wednesday, 29th October 2008

In France overnight, former Darley shuttler King's Best (Kingmambo-Allegretta, by Lombard) added a black-type success when UK-bred 6YO entire Runaway (King's Best-Anasazi, by Sadler's Wells) scored a 1-length victory in the €52,000 (A$99,000) Listed Prix Tantieme (2000m) for 4YOs & up at Compiegne. Runaway (ridden by Thierry Jarnet for trainer Rupert Pritchard-Gordon) defeated Daly Daly (Medaaly-Dame Phanie, by Kaldoun) & German-bred El Comodin (Monsu-Elle Danzig, by Roi Danzig). Trainer Pritchard-Gordon purchased Runaway as a 5YO at 2007's UK Tattersalls July Sale for 110,000 guineas (A$275,000) soon after he finished 3rd in France's Gr3 Prix Exbury (2000m) at Saint-Cloud. Previously in 2006, Runaway won France's Listed Le Vase D'Argent (2000m) at Toulouse, as well as finishing runner-up in both the Gr3 Prix Andre Baboin (1900m) at Bordeaux & Listed Prix De Boulogne (2000m) at Chantilly. And in 2005 he won the Listed Prix Ridgway (2000m) at Deauville, as well as placing in each of the Gr2 Prix Dollar (1950m) at Longchamp, Gr2 Prix Niel (2400m) at Longchamp & Listed Prix De Saint-Patrick (1600m) at Deauville.
