US Sire Aldebaran Sold To Japanese Racing Association
Multiple Gr1-winning 10-year-old sire & 2003 champion sprinter Aldebaran (Mr Prospector-Chimes Of Freedom, by Private Account) "has been sold by his ownership syndicate & will move from Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky to the Shizunai Stallion Station, which is operated on the island of Hokkaido by the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association" reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Aldebaran "is currently in quarantine while undergoing the necessary tests required for import to Japan". Aldebaran notched 8 wins (including the Gr1 Metropolitan Handicap, Gr1 Forego Handicap & Gr1 San Carlos Handicap) plus 12 runners-up from 25 starts for US$1,739,186 earnings. Aldebaran stood the 2008 season for US$30,000 at Darby Dan. From 151 foals of racing age, he has sired 42 winners (including French Gr3-winner Arcadia's Angle, Japanese stakes-winner Dannon Go Go & US Gr1-placed Grace Anatomy).
