UK Tatts HIT Day-3: $1.025m Top Lock

Thursday, 30th October 2008

Also in the UK overnight, Saudi Arabian agent Saad Al Qahtani (standing alongside South African agent Robin Bruss & acting for Prince Faisal bin Khalid) out-bid agent Anthony Stroud & paid top price of 410,000 guineas (A$1.025m) for 3YO colt Top lock (Nayef-Ermine, by Cadeauz Genereux) during the 3rd session of the 4-day Tattersalls Autumn Horses-In-Training Sale. Top Lock carried a Timeform rating of 113 following a 3rd-placing in the Gr1 Deutsches Derby & a runner-up in the UK Gr2 Great Voltigeur Stakes. Al Qahtani told racingpost.co.uk: "He's been bought to go for the King's Cup at Riyadh in February & will be trained by Neil Bruss. We've won it 10 times before, but not for a long time. He could then go on to our neighbouring country Dubai afterwards for the Carnival. He has won on the all-weather & stays 12 furlongs well."
