Friday, 31st October 2008

US multiple Gr2-winning 5YO stallion Lewis Michael (a full brother to 2006 champion 2YO filly Dreaming Of Anna) has been retired & will stand in 2009 at Robert & Blythe Clay's Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Lewis Michael (Rahy-Justenuffheart, by Broad Brush) recorded 7 wins (including both August's Gr2 Pat O'Brien Handicap over 7 furlongs in track record time on Del Mar's polytrack & 2007's Gr2 Washington Park Handicap over 9.5 furlongs in track record time on Arlington Park's polytrack, plus the 2005 Grand Canyon Handicap on turf at Churchill Downs) & 8 placings from 23 starts for US$811,714 earnings. Lewis Michael boasts victories on dirt, grass & synthetic surfaces, while his multiple stake-winning dam Justenuffheart is a half-sister to 2004 champion turf male Kitten's Joy. Three Chimneys president Case Clay commented: "Lewis Michael is the full package that the middle market needs. Standing over 16-hands, he is a big, solid horse that is exceptionally good looking. He has beaten some of the best milers in the country & retired sound after competing at the highest level from age two through the end of his 5YO campaign."
