Magic Millions National Day-1: $180k Red Ransom Colt

Friday, 31st October 2008

In the auction ring, Magic Millions Iran agent Hamid Nikoumanesh paid the Day-1 top price of $180,000 for a 2YO colt by Vinery Stud shuttler Red Ransom (the 3rd foal out of 3-time-winning & stakes-placed Geiger Counter mare Joie) during yesterday's opening session at the 2-day Magic Millions National Horses-In-Training Sale on the Gold Coast. The colt (consigned by BC3 Australia) clocked 10.65sec for 200m during the pre-sale breeze-up & Nikoumanesh enthused: "He was a lovely colt. He's very correct, has a good body & he has a good pedigree. We were impressed with how he breezed-up: he looks nice & we're delighted to be able to buy him. We're hoping he will race well & we could have him as a top stallion prospect after he finishes racing." The colt's dam Joie is a half-sister to both multiple Gr1-winner Tuesday Joy & Gr1-winner Sunday Joy.
