Keeneland Day-1: US$950k Almonsoon
Eric Guillot (representing Mike Moreno's Southern Equine Stables) paid US$950,000 for 6YO racing or broodmare prospect Almonsoon (Giant's Causeway-Garimpeiro, by Mr Prospector) also consigned by Hill n Dale for the Allen Paulson Living Trust. Almonsoon (a half-sister to Gr1-winner Geri, Gr2-winner A.P.Arrow & stakes-winner Clure) won 2008's Omnibus Stakes at Monmouth Park & finished 2nd in the 2007 Gr3 Orchid Handicap. Guillot told bloodhorse.com: "I wanted to buy her for US$600,000. I stopped at US$600,000 & the more I looked at her & looked at her pedigree, the more I liked her. I'm trying to fill a gap to get to 30 foundation mares & I couldn't see why she couldn't be that kind mare. She's gorgeous. Her composure showed her class. I liked her better than Azeri."
