Weekend Hussler Confirmed For Asian Mile Challenge
Meanwhile the Dubai Racing Club announced "Aussie superstar Weekend Hussler has the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free in his sights, as connections eye an ambitious international campaign". Weekend Hussler "came through a work-out at Caulfield in fine style at the weekend" & his 2009 Asian Mile Challenge starts with the Gr1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on February 28 "before moving on to Nad Al Sheba for the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free on March 28". The final 2 legs are the GR1 Champions Mile in Hong Kong on April 26 & Yasuda Kinen in Japan on June 7. Outlining the plan, trainer Ross McDonald confirmed: "He will run in the Lightning, the Australia Stakes & the Futurity then go to Dubai & Hong Kong. With bonuses & everything on offer for the Mile series, we could end up coming home with $10 million in our pockets."
