Jockeys Chairman Says Racing Vic Country Plan "Ridiculous"
Friday, 16th January 2009
Victorian Jockeys' Association chairman & veteran 62-year-old rider Neville Wilson described Racing Victoria's plan to close country training centres & slash country race meetings as "ridiculous". Wilson declared: "I reckon they will lose more than 10% of people if the changes go ahead. They are just going to burn people. The top tier of jockeys will be right & so will a lot of the 2nd-tier jockeys, but the 3rd-tier who ride in the country will find it tough to survive."
