Swiss Ace To Race Another Season & May Go Overseas

Wednesday, 1st July 2009

Trainer Mick Mair revealed owners Daryl & Karen Rogers have received "a couple of offers" for Gr1-winning 4YO entire Swiss Ace (Secret Savings-Rapid Serve, by Carson City) "to go to stud, but I suspect they want to race him for another year. If he can win another Gr1 it would drastically increase his stud value." Mair is aiming Swiss Ace at September's Gr1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in September & told AAP: "He'll only have a handful of runs in Melbourne & I'm not sure after that, but I haven't ruled out an overseas trip. There's Hong Kong, Dubai & England we could consider." Swiss Ace won February's Gr1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield & followed-up with 2nd (a short-neck behind last month's Royal Ascot star Scenic Blast) in March's Gr1 Crown Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington & Mair declared: "He would have beaten Scenic Blast in another 50m & we've seen what the Perth horse has done since in England." Swiss Ace (an $8,500 weanling at the 2005 Magic Millions National Sale & subsequently a $6,000 yearling at the Brisbane Bonus Yearling Sale) currently has 11 wins (also including April's Gr2 Sir Byrne Hart Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm for the 2nd successive year, plus 2008's Listed Weetwood Handicap over 1300m at Toowoomba & Listed Chief De Beers Quality over 1110m at Doomben) & 3 placings (also including 2008's Gr1 BTC Cup over 1200m at Doomben & Listed Vo Rogue Plate over 1350m at Doomben) from 18 starts for $947,5000 earnings.
