US Sire Cape Town Sold To Brazil
US Overbrook Farm-based 14-year-old stallion Cape Town (Seeking The Gold-Seaside Attraction, by Seattle Slew) "has been sold to Brazilian interests & will travel to Brazil for the 2009 Southern Hemisphere breeding season," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Haras Red Rafa co-owner Rafael Steinbruch will stand Overbrook home-bred Cape Town (whose dam Seaside Attraction won the 1990 Gr1 Kentucky Oaks) at his Americana stud in Sao Paulo. Cape Town has sired 206 winners from 267 starters (16 stakes-winners including 2003 champion 3YO filly & Gr1 Kentucky Oaks winner Bird Town) from 8 crops of racing age for US$13,926,323 progeny earnings. On the track, Cape Town (a half-brother to both 1995 champion 2YO filly Golden Attraction & Gr3-winning sire Cape Canaveral) won the Gr1 Florida Derby, Gr3 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes & Gr3 Holy Bull Stakes & earned US$795,817.
