Heatwave Forces UK Race Meeting Cancellation
A heatwave in England has seen the meeting abandoned "after just one race at Worcester on Wednesday, with the hot weather taking its toll as the track ran short of water for the horses," according to racingpost.com. The unusual decision followed 1st race contestant Highland Laddie requiring "2,700 to 3,600 litres (of water) to revive him," which left the racecourse's water stocks bare. The outcome comes after two consecutive summers where flooding stopped the track from racing.
