French Derby Winner La Havre Stud Bound
In France, French Derby winner Le Havre (Noverre-Marie Rheinberg, by Surako) has run his last race. The son of former Darley shuttler Noverre (Rahy-Danseur Fabuleux, by Northern Dancer) suffered a tendon injury, according to frogsracing.com, and will now be aimed at stud. La Havre's trainer Jean-Claude Rouget commented: "As can happen after an extreme effort, Le Havre came out of the Jockey Club with serious tendon problems which will change the direction of his career.... There is no question now of running him in the Prix Jacques Le Marois." Named after a harbour in Normandy, Le Havre finished runner-up in the Gr1 French 2000 Guineas prior to his Derby triumph. A €100,000 (A$180,000) yearling at the 2007 Deauville August Sale, no decision has been made on where Le Havre might stand in 2010.
