Australian-Breds Vie for Macau Cup
Australian-bred gallopers are set to play a major role in Sunday's Macau Jockey Club 2009 Macau Cup. Run over 1500m, the Gr2 event has a field of 14 horses with over half the contestants Australian-breds. Top horses include 8YO gelding Let Go (Encosta de Lago-Receive, by Westminster), 9YO gelding Safety Investments (Fuji Kiseki-Tipsy Myar, by Dahar) & 5YO gelding Nittan's Crown (Danehill Dancer-Royal Subject, by Kingmambo) who scored by 2.5-lengths (& led in an Australian-bred trifecta) in June's Gr1 Macau Gold Cup (1800m) at Taipa. Nittan's Crown (a $180,000 yearling at the 2005 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) now has 2 wins & 4 placings including March's Gr2 Director's Cup over 1500m at Taipa. Let Go (a $50,000 yearling at the 2002 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) has 9 wins (including February's Gr3 Spring Trophy and 2007's Gr2 Macau Cup) & 15 placings including January's Gr1 Chairman's Challenge Cup. Other Australian-breds in the line-up include 6YO gelding Continued Success (Made Of Gold-Beloved, by Bellotto), 6YO gelding Jazza Bell (Zabeel-Alharir, by Juene), 4YO gelding Sunshine Sure Win (King Of Roses-Queenstown Kate, by Kingston Rule), 5YO gelding Test Of Time (Testa Rossa-Tonicity, by Blazing Sword) & 5YO gelding Club House (Genuine-Titleist, by Century) who was a $51,000 yearling at the 2005 Magic Millions Tasmanian Sale.
