Glenlogan Park Coup 1: Qld Farm Secures Real Saga

Friday, 10th July 2009

Leading Queensland stud farm Glenlogan Park has secured a major coup for the 2009 breeding season by acquiring the top rated juvenile Real Saga (Tale Of The Cat-Windy Kate, by Success Express). In so doing, Glenlogan was able to stall off heavy competition from a number of prominent studs throughout Australia and New Zealand and will retire him to the breeding barn immediately. Trained by John Hawkes, Real Saga finished his 2YO career as the equal highest rated Timeform 2YO of the last 10 years with a rating of 123, a figure ranking him the equal of Sebring, Meurice & Charge Forward, whilst placing him higher than other top quality colts such as Bel Esprit, Exceed And Excel, Choisir, Stratum, Snitzel, Fastnet Rock and Murtajil at the same stage of their careers. From his first 5 starts Real Saga had 4 wins (including the Listed Breeders Plate over 1000m at the start of the season, the Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m for 2YO colts & geldings at Caulfield & the Gr2 Todman Slipper Trial over 1200m for colts & geldings at Rosehill) & finished an unlucky runner-up in the Gr1 Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Stakes over 1200m for 2YOs at Caulfield in Melbourne. In his final start in the Gr1 STC Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) he finished a close-up 4th when favourite. Real Saga will stand at an introductory service fee of $12,500 plus GST and there will be a limited number of shares available to selected breeders.
