Mega Steel Wins Belmont 3YO Classic

Western Australia's North Dandalup-based Touchstone Farm's triple Gr1-winning 9YO stallion & former champion Australian 3YO colt Helenus (Helissio-Worldwide Elsie, by Java Gold) sired his 1st stakes winner when favoured 3YO gelding Mega Steel (Helenus-Cabernet Queen, by Marauding) scored by 0.75-length in the $75,000 Listed Belmont Classic (2200m) for 3YOs at Belmont in Perth. Mega Steel (ridden by Clint Harvey for trainer Colin Webster) defeated 3YO fillies Jewelled (Zabeel-Tbaareeh, by Chief's Crown) & Night At The Opera (Good Journey-Written By A Queen, by Masterclass). Mega Steel (a $30,000 weanling purchase by agent John Chalmers at the 2006 Magic Millions Key Farm Dispersal Sale) took his record to 3 wins & 3 placings (also including June's Listed Belmont Guineas over 1600m for 3YOs at Belmont Park) from 7 starts for $123,265 earnings.
