Leased Clark Mare Wins Waimate Cup

Tuesday, 14th July 2009

In New Zealand, a weekend victory by Lot 203 Dream By Day (City on a Hill-Russian Slice, by Godswalk) in the Waimate Cup (1800m) has kept the upcoming NZ Bloodstock South Island Sale firmly in buyers' minds. Originally purchased by breeder Adrian Clark (NZTM's executive manager) as a yearling out of Curraghmore Stud's paddock, Dream By Day was leased out by Clark but will race in his colours prior to her sale on August 7 as the lease expires a week prior to the sale. Now a winner of 4 races, Dream By Day was also runner-up in the CJC New Zealand Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes, & is a half-sister to stakes-placed Fellini. Previously one of New Zealand's leading thoroughbred broadcasters prior to his current role, Clark's part-time hobby includes breeding from dual Gr2 winner Sarajay whose Zabeel colt is going to Karaka next year; she in currently in foal to Zabeel & is booked again to the champion Cambridge Stud stallion in 2009).
