US Jockey Leeds Achieves 1,000 Victory Milestone

US jockey Damon Leeds achieved 1,000 race wins aboard Craftmaster "in an $8,000 allowance race at Lincoln State Fair in Nebraska," reports thoroughbredtimes.com. Leeds had his 1st ride in 1988, winning his inaugural stakes race at Ellis Park after 3 years in the saddle. Cumulatively, "his 9,835 mounts have earned US$9,971,013 and have won 24 stakes races." The most important race he has won is the US$55,000 West Virginia Governor's Handicap in 2001 at Mountaineer Race Track.
