1st Winner For Derby Winner North Light
In the northern hemisphere, Frank Stronach's Florida-based Adena Springs stallion North Light (Danehill-Sought Out, by Rainbow Quest) notched his first winner from his 1st crop of racing age when 2YO filly North Ballade (North Light-Betty B, by Devil's Bag) won at her 3rd attempt (in Russia's Gr3 Kuban Stakes), reports racingpost.com. The filly was bred in Florida by Adena Springs, and was a US$10,000 yearling consigned by Adena Springs at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale where she was purchased by Black Stone Farm. Irish-bred North Light was the top rated 3YO in England and 3rd top rated 3YO in Ireland in 2004 with 3 wins (including 2004's Gr1 Epsom Derby at Epsom Downs & Gr2 Totesports Dante Stakes at York) & 3 placings (including 2004's Gr1 Budweiser Irish Derby at The Curragh) from 7 starts for £1,097,276 in earnings. The son of Danehill who stood his first season in 2006, stood this year for a fee of US$15,000.
