JRHA Day-3: Yoshida Happy With Final Figures
Following the 3rd & final day of the annual JHRA Select Sale, the aggregate foal sale turnover was 4,913,200,000 yen (A$67,437,109) at an average price of 23,735,266 yen (A$325,783) & a median price of 19,000,000 (A$260,788). Overall, the foal sale was down 33.1%, with the average for the 2 foal sessions falling 32.3%. In a statement put out by the Japan Horse Racing Association, vice-chairman Teruya Yoshida (principal of Shadai Farm) commented: "I am satisfied with the final figures. Under the current economic surroundings, I must be happy to see the gross at the yearling session bettered the previous year, and the buy-back rate through three days (30.9%) is almost the same as last year (29.7%). It is certainly a buyer friendly market and I am very happy to see my clients are happy with the horses they bought and happy with the prices they paid. Once the clients are happy, I am happy."
