Thursday, 16th July 2009

Also in the US, that country's 2007 champion turf male, 7YO English Channel (Smart Strike-Belva, by Theatrical), "has been relocated to Lane's End Farm in Versailles, Kentucky, for the 2010 breeding season," reports thoroughbredtimes.com. English Channel recorded 13 wins from 23 starts for US$5,319,028 with his career highlights including the Gr1 trio of the John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf, United Nations Stakes & Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational Stakes. Having just completed the 2009 season at Hurricane Hall at a fee of US$25,000, Lane's End principal Will Farish commented: "We are pleased that Brad Kelley has decided to have champion English Channel join his sire Smart Strike and his son Curlin at Lane's End." In his debut season English Channel "proved to be remarkably fertile, getting 90% of his 151 mares in foal."
